i like art.

yesterday we visited the art museum. they have a wonderful impressionist exhibit going on right now. monet, matisse, renoir. they all must have been nearsighted to paint the way they did. sometimes i take my glasses off and look around to see an impressionistic world. didn't have to do that at the exhibit. the paintings were perfect on their own.

red velvet treat

If you're like me, you love anything and everything red velvet. Cookies, cakes, crepes, etc. Today I decided to make red velvet muddy buddies (or puppy chow - depending on what you call it). No matter what you call it, it's delicious and so easy to make. Even easier than regular muddy buddies because there is no melting of chocolate.

here's what you need:

chex rice cereal
cream cheese frosting
red velvet cake mix
powdered sugar

here's what to do:

melt one cup of cream cheese frosting in a microwave safe bowl
put five cups of chex mix cereal in a separate bowl
pour the melted frosting onto the cereal
stir until every piece is coated
in yet another bowl, mix together approximately 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and 1 1/2 cups of red velvet cake mix
put the cereal and dry mix in a gallon ziploc bag and shake away until it's all coated

enjoy!

goodreads

I don't know how many of you knew that the picture of a bookshelf over there on the side bar takes you to a page about my reading habits, but I'm willing to guess it's not many. Maybe you don't try to click on every picture on blogs to see if there are any hidden gems. But then again, maybe you do. Regardless, you should click it, and then click the link there that takes you to my goodreads profile. I guess you don't need to do that if you're not the least bit interested in my opinions on books. Or if you're too lazy to take the plunge and click, here's what the page says:

The best way to keep up with my voracious reading habits is to check my goodreads profile. There, you can find books I've read, what I'm currently reading, my favorites, my not-so-favorites, and those I was compelled enough to write about. Join me in my love for all things literary.

all hail Queen B

(I had this one in the works last night, but got too tired to finish/post it.)

I hope everyone enjoyed the Beyoncé concert - there was a football game? - last night. We watched with friends - friends who went just as wild for Bey as I did. Thank goodness I wasn't the only one.
When it all started off like this I knew it was going to be a-maz-ing.

dang, girl. that walk is fierccccceeeee.

At first I was all - Look at her legs. They're as tall as me. I want to beeeeee her.
(Then we tried to sing and dance along and it ended up a little like this.)
And then there were so many dancing Beyoncés. Holograms. Hair whipping. What?!
And then we flailed over Sasha Fierce's dancing. Werk.
Then we were all screaming - omgomgomgomgomgomOMG IT'S DESTINY'S CHIIIIIIIIIIILD!!!

Conclusion: Beyoncé won the Super Bowl.
Football? Who needs football?

This is what I like to call the Lorelai Gilmore complex. It's real. I have it. It's a problem.
