the post

It all started with a book. One that was left behind. One that I picked up. One that a few years later, finally made it back to its original owner. And being lovers of the written word ourselves, Elizabeth and I saw this as the perfect opportunity to start up a real-mail correspondence. Because, let's be honest here, who doesn't love getting mail that isn't junk or bills? There's just something about receiving and writing/sending a letter. Something magical. Now if only the post was actually carried by owls.

double rainbow all the way

"You think dark is just one color, but it ain't.  There're five or six kinds of black.  Some like fingers.  And it don't stay still.  It moves and changes from one kind of black to another. Saying something is pitch black is like saying something is green.  What kind of green? Green like my bottles?  Green like a grasshopper?  Green like a cucumber, lettuce, or green like the sky just before it breaks loose to storm?  Well, night black is the same way. May as well  be a rainbow."

mother russia? it's big!

We battled torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightning to get there, but the program was well worth it. I wasn't about to let the weather deter me from
my love of Russian composers.

Played one of these today. The Model S. Five feet long. About ten-thousand times its length in price. Maybe in ten to fifteen years' time my childhood dream of owning one can come true.
Time to start saving my pennies.

"What is the meaning of life? A simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years. The great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark."

switch for a day

I loved this idea so much, I had to steal it from my friend Danielle's blog that she writes with her sister.
If you want Danielle's personal blog, go here.

What celebrity would you switch places with for a day and why?

Ladies and gents, here's my pick. Idina. That voice. And she's gorgeous. And funny. And the most adorable person in the world. Really, I just wish I could sing like her.

Which celebrity would you like to be for a day?

If only Caesar had listened to the soothsayer.

P.S. Happy birthday to one of the coolest girls I know.

If you aren't reading her blog, you should be. Find it here.
Happy birthday, E!

time for a change

I want to change my hair. Beautiful thing about hair is that it's so easily changed. You cut it; it grows back. You dye it; you can dye it again if you hate it.

Here's two colors I found that I love:

Which color do you like/think will look best on me?

stories

For Christmas in 1995 my family gave my grandma an empty journal, a pen, and a jar full of writing prompts about life events, family stories, and such. One year and one completed journal later, she gave it back to us as a Christmas present. They were over for my birthday and we pulled it out. And here she is a little over fifteen years later reading through her stories and telling us more about her life. It is a treasure to have her life stories written down in her own beautiful cursive penmanship. I even learned that there is a street in our hometown named for her family. Talk to the old ones. They know so much.
